Plate to Face Series - Avocado Face Mask

Plate to Face Series - Avocado Face Mask

Skincare really doesn’t need to be complicated, and to prove this I am about to share with you one of the most easiest recipes I will ever share with you. This recipe contains only one ingredient and that is an avocado. Let me tell you the benefits...

Avocados are full to the brim with naturally occurring fatty acids that are absolutely essential for optimal skin health reconstruction. These fatty acids are packed with nutrients, which gives your skin a smooth, youthful appearance for longer.

Not only this, but avocado naturally hydrates and moisturises your skin by leaving a beautiful silky nourishing layer of oil on your skin (when applied to the skin). These oils will protect your skin from external toxins (pollution), and help prevent your skin from drying out. Like our Olive & Joyce Skincare products (which are oil based), this oil layer will lock in the water and skin that holds on to water is always moist, supple, and resilient. As it naturally maintains a healthy skin barrier which is super important for skin health.

In addition to helping protecting your skin from drying out, it also reduces inflammation, caused by psoriasis, hives, rashes, eczema and acne with its healthy fats and oleic acid. Not only do these healthy fats protect our skin when put on our skin, but when eaten these gorgeous monounsaturated fats help produce collagen and increase skin elasticity too.

Avocados are amazing, either eaten or applied directly on the skin and I particularly love applying a bruised and brown avocado to my face as the oils are more rich.

So heres the super quick no messing around recipe thats good for all skin types and ages.

bruised avocado cut into chunks put on blue and white place with wood background

What you need are:

1 bruised avocado

1 fork

Take your bruised avocado and use a fork to mash it up. I use the avocado skin as a bowl as the flesh is so bruised it takes little effort. Give it a good forking until it is a soft cream consistency.

Apply the creamed avocado to a freshly cleansed face and leave it on for up to 15 – 20 minutes until it hardens slightly. Remove with a damp cloth, oil cleanse and moisturise as normal.
